Bettie Gilbert

You can find Bettie and Barry sending notes to loved ones and writing an

occasional blog post from their home in the far north suburbs of Chicago at

Both Bettie and Barry are walking forward with Jesus in the middle of their

pain and weakness from multiple chronic illnesses. Bettie was first diagnosed

with rheumatoid arthritis in 2014, followed by fibromyalgia, osteoporosis,

and Sjogren’s Syndrome. Barry was diagnosed with cardiac amyloidosis, a

heart failure disease, in 2021.

The beauty of nature is a joy that calls to them both, as do their family and

nine young grandchildren. They have been married for over 40 years and take

great joy in their morning coffee breaks together.
