Lisa Davenport has been telling stories through fine custom interiors and exteriors for more than twenty-five years. After all, great designs tell a story.
In 2012, while her mother-in-law was slipping away from her into the depths of Alzheimer’s, Lisa started sharing their journey as random Facebook posts. She never expected those short little stories would be so well received. So well, in fact, that numerous followers and friends, including her mother-in-law, encouraged her to write a book. As a dyslexic, Lisa was crippled by fear when it came to writing. How could she write an entire book? Believing it truly does take a village, Lisa surrounded herself with those who could guide her through the process while still preserving her own signature on the design of this very important story.
Lisa splits her time between her hometown of Durham, Connecticut, where her roots run deep, and Naples, Florida, where she has been welcomed and embraced by a new group of ”family” and friends. While she loves sharing her own little “Mayberry” (aka Durham) with her clients and followers, she is also smitten with the charm of Naples.
Lisa is an active member in both her communities. In Connecticut she is a long-serving member of the Durham Fair Association assisting her husband, Joe. In Florida she serves as an advisory board member of Valerie’s House, a special place for children and families to connect to heal after experiencing the death of a loved one. Lisa has also dedicated much of her time to missionary work in the eastern mountains of Kentucky, granting her the distinction of being named a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steve Bashear.
Lisa is married to the love of her life, Joe, and she can't imagine this ride called life without him. Together they have two children, Ashley and Joey. In 2021, they welcomed their new grandson, Flynn, into their hearts and lives.
A portion of the proceeds from Life with MIL will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
