Amy Thornton Shankland

Amy Thornton Shankland has been writing stories and books ever since she received a Kmart Snappy Blue typewriter when she was eight years old. In addition to being an author, she is a fundraising consultant and columnist for the Hamilton County Daily Reporter and Kokomo Tribune. Amy is a former freelance writer for Indy's Child and editor of her church's bulletin. She also taught the Dale Carnegie Human Relations Course from 1998 – 2008.

Amy has given local, regional, and national workshops on various writing topics thanks to her 24+ years as a grant professional.

She is a mother to two outstanding young men and lives near Indianapolis with her husband and two dogs. Amy enjoys growing her faith, volunteering for various local organizations, hoop dancing, reading, and walking everywhere she possibly can.
