In 2005, I graduated from graduate school. In the beginning, I felt unhappy because I could not find, what I thought, was my ideal job. When out of the blue, God’s Spirit instructed me to schedule a daily time to meet Him during prayer. As days passed, I kid you not, my feet started to land on the steps of the United States Library of Congress, Supreme Court, White House, and the Capitol.

Long before I started pursuing a college degree, I was employed (full-time) at a popular Historical Black University. While there, during the evening, I pursued an undergraduate degree (part-time). Several weeks later, I grew tired of working (during the day) and attending classes at night. For that reason, I resigned from my job to pursue my degree full-time.

Even though I couldn't find my perfect job in 2005, and I felt unhappy, my meeting God in prayer made a world of difference. For that reason, I have a keen desire to put Him first. What that means is nothing should come before Him–not even your college degree.
