Akif Cogo is the historian and archivist for the St. Louis Bosnians Inc., a nonprofit organization he founded in 2011. The organization provides charity, offers cultural and educational programs, and conducts advocacy at local, state, national, and international levels for Bosnian Americans.
The St. Louis Bosnians maintains the online database stlbosnians.com, which gathers, preserves, and makes available information about the Bosnian people in St. Louis for education and insight into the ideas and realities that shaped the lives of men and women of Bosnian descent.
In 2016, Cogo was recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the “40 under 40” most influential business and community professionals in the St. Louis region. In 2017 he received the St. Louis Mosaic Project’s Immigrant Professional Award as one of the impactful immigrant professionals in St. Louis.
