Bea Stein was born in Newcastle, the northernmost city in England. She now lives with her husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats in Port Williams in Nova Scotia, the easternmost province in mainland Canada. She spent her working life in Universities in England and Canada, doing epidemiological research and publishing hundreds of research papers about it. She is spending her retirement keeping out of Universities and writing stories.
Her children are adults now and have welcomed her into the fantastic world of grandparenting.
Bea believes in trying things. Always try new foods - what if your most favourite food is one you haven't had yet? She has tried many sports including parachuting, water skiing, horseback riding, rock climbing and canyoneering, and loved them all. She met her nemesis in caving and found there was an edge to her courage. She took up roller blading in her mid-forties and was the oldest roller skater in town. She had her first tequila shots when she was over 60, by zoom during COVID. They were fabulous. She remains up for anything - except caving. Well, to be honest she is also a bit of a wimp when it comes to catching mice. That's why she has the cats. But, apart from caving and mice, she's up for anything.
