Dr. Danielle Ulian

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (a feelings Doctor), a Mom, a Highly Sensitive Person and an Author. Healing, creating, playing, traveling, listening to music and taking pictures are some of my favorite things to do. I feel honored and blessed to work with others to create awareness, understanding, empowerment, and connection.

My passion for helping others to re-discover their inborn strengths, talents, and gifts has been an important part of my life for over two decades. My enthusiasm flourished when I graduated from University of Illinois-Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Through my personal and professional daily interactions with unique and diverse populations, the pursuit of my professional path in working with people in a therapeutic realm became crystal clear. In 2007, I graduated from DePaul University with a Master’s degree in Human Services and Counseling and practiced as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois. Acting as a mental health consultant to a myriad of programming including a daycare, after school youth program, teen mother program, and parental development and education program, I specifically worked with children, adolescents, teen mothers, and families experiencing developmental, behavioral, emotional, relational, and social issues and who have had a history of extreme adversity, such as poverty, trauma, abuse, and neglect. I have worked with children, adolescents, and families living with learning disorders, behavioral issues in school and in the home, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and autism in an individual and group setting. I continued to work in this realm for 3 years, where I collaboratively joined my clients to improve their functioning in all areas of their life, including increasing empowerment and enhancing self-awareness to lead a healthier, happier life, and helping to diminish the perpetuation of unhealthy family relationships.

In 2009, I pursued one of my life long dreams and moved to California where I graduated with a Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D) in Applied Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2012. I have worked in several capacities, including community health and private practice. Throughout my community therapeutic experience, I have collaborated with adults living with different types of depression and anxiety, phobias, relational issues, substance abuse issues, and exposure to small and large trauma. I continued to provide parenting classes to help families understand healthy and maladaptive roles within their family, while offering education relevant to topics such as: childhood development, boundaries, communication, emotional intelligence and literacy, love languages, and grief.

Private practice has offered me a platform to accrue extensive experience working with the entire lifespan, children, adolescents, and adults, as well as couples and family therapy. Staying true to my philosophy of empowerment, I have coupled with clients living with small, large, complex and developmental trauma, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, relational issues, emotional literacy and intelligence, codependency and boundary difficulties, difficult life transitions, entering pregnancy and postpartum, simple and complicated grief, behavioral issues, and ADHD, utilizing a holistic and integrative approach to healing. Overall, I have been in practice for 16 years and feel very honored, blessed and fortunate to join humans on their healing journeys.
