Jane Buckley

A chara!

I grew up in Derry during the Troubles, surrounded by the stories and voices that shaped me long before I ever picked up a pen. I left school at sixteen and, like so many, headed for England to build a life. I worked hard, raised a family, and never imagined I’d one day become an author.

But years later, the memories of home and the people I’d left behind refused to fade. I realised those stories - of ordinary lives caught up in extraordinary times - needed to be told. So I began writing what became the Stones Corner series: Turmoil, Darkness, Light and Hope.

The books follow the lives of Derry men and women through the worst of the 1970s and beyond - the pain, the love, the loss, and the humour that somehow survived it all. They’re raw, real, and unapologetically human.

I’m proud to say I write independently under my own company, Oakleaf Press, based right back home in Derry. Every word, every page, is a piece of who we were and who we still are.

If you enjoy Irish historical fiction that tells both sides of the story with heart and honesty — the kind of tale that makes you feel, remember, and maybe even understand a little more - then hello. You’ve found your next read.

Sláinte!

Maidir le Jane Buckley

Rugadh mé agus tógadh mé i nDoire i rith na dTrioblóidí, timpeallaithe ag scéalta agus guthanna a mhúnlaigh mé i bhfad sular thóg mé peann riamh. D’fhág mé an scoil ag sé bliana déag d’aois agus, mar a rinne a lán eile, chuaigh mé go Sasana le saol a thógáil dom féin. D’oibrigh mé go dian, thóg mé clann, agus níor shamhlaigh mé riamh go mbeinn i mo scríbhneoir lá éigin.

Ach blianta ina dhiaidh sin, níor imigh cuimhní an bhaile ná na daoine a d’fhág mé i mo dhiaidh. Thuig mé go raibh na scéalta sin — faoi ghnáthdhaoine i ngnáthshaol crua — tuillte acu go gcloisfí iad. Sin mar a thosaigh mé ag scríobh an tsraith Stones Corner: Turmoil, Darkness, Light agus Hope.

Leanann na leabhair saol mhuintir Dhoire tríd an seachtóidí agus níos faide, trí ghrá, caillteanas, pian, agus greann — an greann a choinnigh muid beo fiú i lár na holc. Tá siad fíor, neamhmhaisiúchánach, agus lán le croí.

Tá bród orm a rá go scríobhaim go neamhspleách faoin mbratach Oakleaf Press, mo chuideachta féin i nDoire. Tá gach focal, gach leathanach, mar phíosa beag den méid a bhí ionainn, agus atá fós ann.

Má thaitníonn leat ficsean stairiúil Éireannach a insíonn an dá thaobh den scéal le fírinne agus le cineáltas — an cineál scéil a chuireann ort mothú, cuimhneamh, agus tuiscint bheag a fháil — tá fáilte romhat. Fuair tú do chéad léamh eile.
