This book, God’s Song in Your Soul: Keys to Finding Joy in the Midst of Difficulties – A Devotional Journey, came about by Susan Berg Heeg’s constant desire to know our Creator in a deeper more personal way. After becoming a Christian, music has been a very important part of her life. She has sung in the church choir and loves to sing along with hymns in the car as she drives. Having had many ups and downs in life, Susan has shared many of the lessons of her spiritual journey to find joy amidst pain and difficulty with churches, Christian groups, and on television.

Married to the most wonderful man, David Heeg, life has been a blessing. Susan also has two stepsons, David Jr. with his wife, Andrea, and Jason Sr. with his wife, Mish. She is also blessed with six grandchildren who have brought her a bounty of laughs and hugs and love... Kathryn, David III, Andrew, Jason Jr., Anthony, and Emma.

Susan dedicated herself for 34 years to children as a teacher of 3rd graders, children with learning disabilities, or children with behavior disorders. She is now retired from the career she loved. As an author and member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Susan was honored by the Illinois Reading Association at a luncheon for Illinois authors.

Susan Berg Heeg’s first book, Voyage to Victory: The Voice of a Sailor in the Pacific 1942-1945, grew from a collection of letters that her dad wrote to the members of his family during World War II. While researching for her book, she collected many WWII artifacts. A Jan./Feb.1942 Superman comic book with Superman helping the U.S. Navy in the Pacific began her collection. The letters and her artifacts led to presentations for schools, churches, veteran’s groups, libraries, senior living facilities, and conferences. This book and research also led Susan to think of the fear and experiences her dad and other servicemen and women in war must survive with the reality of death all around them. Those thoughts began her exploration of how her dad found his way with his faith in God to get through the war. It also brought her to see God’s work in her own life of difficulties. Thus, her second book was born.

Susan’s greatest desire is that all will find God’s song in their souls and the joy and peace that only God can give even in the most difficult situations of life.
