Melissa Coetzer

My name is Melissa and I am a storyteller and lover of words. I have self-published two books, though I have many unfinished stories. My first book, The Grumpy Hippopotamus, was a result of a story I told to my daughter. We were on a camping trip in winter, and it was too dark to read stories or do anything else and I needed to keep her indoors until the sun was up. I’m not sure if it was she or I who was the grumpiest about the early morning and the confinement. My second book, Inside Out Upside Down Me!, is on creative prose and poems. The book is an expression on thoughts and feelings that are easily relatable. I decided to put them into print because shared experiences, ideas and thoughts unite us as people, no matter our culture or background. Added to this, I have always found poetry to be a healing balm for the soul.
