Edgar Rommel

Edgar Rommel, born in 1993, was captivated by the colorful worlds of CRT televisions from an early age. Today, screens are flat, but his passion for pop culture remains unshaken – if anything, it has become his calling.

His journey took him from the German cities of Bochum and Tübingen to the other side of the world, to Kyoto and Okayama in Japan. He studied art history and Japanese studies, but his immersion in the world of anime, manga, and video games went far beyond academics. As a writer, he covers nerd culture, publishes books, and has contributed to video game magazines. His specialty? Japanese pop culture in all its facets.

As much as digital and flickering worlds fascinate him, his home remains the Rhineland – where his own story began over 30 years ago.
