Leigh Leibel

Leigh Leibel, PhD student, MSc, C-IAYT (she/her) is an integrative oncology specialist and health journalist based in NYC. Since 2015, she has had a clinical practice in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center where she works alongside palliative care and psycho-oncology to design evidence-based mind-body interventions and healthy lifestyle programs for people with cancer to mitigate adverse treatment side effects and improve clinical outcomes. Ms Leibel completed a summer fellowship in cancer prevention and control at the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute (NIH/NCI) and holds a Master of Science in Yoga Therapy (honors) from S-VYASA University and Research Institute in Bengaluru, India, and is pursing a PhD in biomedical yoga research in oncology/NCD's. Formerly an executive producer at CNN, she serves on the Advisory Board of Cancer Health magazine and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO), where she co-hosts the Integrative Oncology Talk podcast and co-chairs the SIO Yoga Special Interest Group. Most recently, she co-founded the Center for Global Health Equity and Empowerment (GHEE) and is working on a multi-year project with an international team of researchers on equity-based cancer prevention interventions in community health fairs in Abuja, Nigeria that may be replicated in other low- middle-income countries (LMICs).
