Paul Davies

I've been lucky to have had a long and full life, which helps a lot when writing about the real world or realistic fiction, and I write both, as well as poetry. I was born just outside London, England, in 1939, five months before the beginning of World War 2, when bombs began to fall around about. I graduated from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, with a B.A. in English and Spanish Literature. I then lived and worked in Franco's Spain for two years, and I have spent the last 57 years of my life (to date, 2022) in Mexico, working until 2018 in the field of education, and also for 10 years with a street children NGO. I have an extended Mexican family, including grandchildren, and a circle of Mexican ex-colleagues and friends. I have travelled widely, in Europe, Morocco, and North America, and in Latin America, with many work visits to Brazil and some to other countries there. As a creative writer (that is, outside my professional field, in which I have had many books published), I have two widely separated "periods": the first was as a university student, with poems and short stories in 'Icarus', the literary magazine of Trinity College Dublin, alongside some writers now very well-known, and the second has been since 2019, in retirement. So far, my second "period" includes a book about Mexico,'My Mexico: The country of an old English immigrant', a novel, 'Worlds Wide & Narrow', and a book of poems and anecdotes, 'Poetizing in Youth and Old Age'. I'm currently working on my second novel, and new poems sprout from time to time. If any of that pushes buttons in your head, or your gut, try reading some of my stuff!
