John Smith's latest book is 'Escape: A Love Letter to a Cult Football Classic', a celebration of the greatest football film of all-time, 'Escape to Victory'. John first co-authored ‘Booked!’ & ‘Second Yellow’ with Dan Trelfer, before going solo with ‘Final Third!’. Alongside a day job in TV, working mainly in comedy and sport, John has written about football for 'The Blizzard', ‘Four Four Two’, ‘Guardian Online’, ‘Late Tackle’, ‘Hammers’ and ‘Blowing Bubbles’. He has also written for TV shows such as ‘Blankety Blank’ and ‘Crouchy’s Year Late Euros’, and for TV coverage of Football and Snooker. He was also one quarter of the ‘Football Legends’ podcast, inspired by the 'Booked!' series of books which explored all things relating to well over 300 football autobiographies.
