JA Winterford was born Mossley, a former industrial hill-town on the edge of Greater Manchester but considers herself to be an authentic Lancastrian. She was educated at Ashton under Lyne Grammar School and has enjoyed writing stories from a very young age.
In 1986 she was taken on a camping trip to Anglesey, North Wales, and fell in love with the island. She has been a frequent visitor, every year since, with her family, children and grandchildren, who share her love and enthusiasm for traversing the iconic bridges and experiencing the island's unique beauty.
Fall From Grace is her first published novel and is mainly set in Anglesey. Using her knowledge of the area, her characters are given a charming and sometimes dramatic backdrop as their stories play out and their lives are affected by personal trauma. Her love of a "good read" with strong characters, coupled with twists and turns, has enabled her to structure the story in a way she enjoys reading fiction herself, however, written very much in her own style.
