Gennike Mayers was born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, great-granddaughter of Venezuelan migrants Dioniso Marcano and Cecilia Marcano né Garcia, who migrated to Trinidad during the Venezuelan Federal War 1859-1863.
A student of the humanities, she holds a bachelor’s degree in French and a postgraduate degree in interpretation from the University of the West Indies (UWI) in St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. She also earned a master’s degree in Communication in public, private and political organizations awarded by the University of Versailles St. Quentin-en-Yvelines, Paris, France. Her last academic work was a master’s degree in contemporary diplomacy with the University of Malta which she completed in 2020.
Her passion for service and her desire to help others bridge language barriers motivated her to establish her own language services company "Interpreting Your Needs" offering interpretation services, translation of documents and management of multilingual projects. Today Gennike serves the globe from her serene island base of Tobago.
