I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl and used to play school growing up. I have always loved books, so becoming a reading teacher seemed the perfect job. Reading books and sharing them with my students is probably one of my top ten favorite things!
I taught in public schools for ten years, teaching upper elementary kids reading and writing, and I loved it. After having my son, I decided to stay home for a bit. I found myself missing students and began tutoring, which led to needing to create materials for them. This led me to write reading comprehension practice for them, which led to me selling teaching materials on my website marcysmayhem.com. A year turned into more years as I fell in love with writing more than before. Writing a book was something that I always wanted to do but never thought that I would be able to. When I came up with the idea for my first book, it came together so effortlessly in my head. I knew I wanted to write a book to help kids learn. Dalton's Dress-Up Dilemma, my first book, was written in 2019. It is a fun book to teach kids about figurative language and, as a bonus, is a fantastic memory of my son when he was four.
Now you can find me in Texas either playing with my kids, hanging with my husband, walking my dogs, or creating a variety of resources to use by teachers and homeschool parents.
