Alem Aweke Embiale

Alem Aweke Embiale is an award-winning, Amazon Best-Selling children's author (Children's African History) and the recipient of the 2026 Bronze Independent Publisher (IPPY) Book Award in Multicultural Non-Fiction – Juvenile/Young Adult for his book The Battle of Adwa. He holds undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and Business Management and a Master's degree in Computer Science, and now resides in the Dallas, Texas area.

Originally from Ethiopia, Alem moved to the United States with his wife and their then three-year-old daughter. Despite the challenges of starting over in a new country, they held onto a shared vision: to contribute meaningfully to their community.

That purpose became clearer during a simple visit to a public library with his daughter. As he browsed the shelves, Alem noticed a striking gap; there were almost no Ethiopian children's books. Although Ethiopia is rich in history, culture, and storytelling, very few books introduce that heritage to young readers.

Motivated by this realization, Alem founded Lella Menged and began writing children's books that celebrate culture, spark curiosity, and inspire young minds. He is dedicated to creating engaging stories that preserve Ethiopian history and culture while fostering pride, empathy, and global understanding among children.

When he's not writing, Alem enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, and exploring different genres of music.
