Charles LeBeau was once an aspiring jazz musician a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. After receiving a masters degree from the University of Chicago, he arrived in Japan in 1982, where he has worked in both the corporate and educational fields. As a corporate trainer, he worked in many of the top companies in Japan, including Toshiba where he was senior instructor on the faculty of the International Training Center for 30 years. He currently teaches presentation, debate, and critical thinking in the ACE program at Meiji University in Tokyo. He divides his time between Yokohama, Japan and Eugene, Oregon.
He has written several textbooks on presentation, debate, and discussion, some are available in English and some are available only in Japanese. His best-selling text, Speaking of Speech, was first published in 1996 and is now in a 3rd edition by National Geographic Education.
