Caglar Cil

Çağlar Çil is a Turkish author whose literary voice moves fluidly between fiction and science, philosophy and emotion, realism and the surreal. With a background in biology and a keen interest in psychology and identity, Çil crafts stories that are both intellectually engaging and emotionally resonant, stories that explore what it means to be human in a fragmented world.

His debut novel, Bölünmüş Yüzler (Divided Faces), is a haunting meditation on grief, solitude, and the passage of time. Set against the backdrop of familial loss and childhood memory, the novel navigates through metaphors of seasons and mirrors, exploring how inherited dreams and unspoken traumas shape the architecture of the self. The mirrored room at the heart of the story becomes a powerful literary symbol which is a place where past and future, self and other, reality and imagination dissolve into each other. The book received attention for its lyrical language and psychological depth, drawing comparisons to the traditions of introspective European and Turkish literature.

In his follow-up work, The Secret Behind DNA, Çil shifts genre without losing his thematic core. Blending science fiction, suspense, and speculative genetics, the novel follows Dr. Sophie Gannon, a geneticist whose groundbreaking research unintentionally uncovers a conspiracy with global implications. Set between Glasgow, Rome, and Istanbul, the narrative races through espionage, bioethics, and ancient secrets embedded in DNA. What begins as a scientific breakthrough soon becomes a moral reckoning, questioning the fine line between innovation and manipulation, knowledge and control, salvation and destruction.

Though his subjects vary from mirrored rooms of memory to encoded conspiracies, Çil’s writing consistently interrogates the structures that define who we are: our biology, our beliefs, our memories, and our choices. He is particularly drawn to the tensions between the scientific and the poetic, the seen and the hidden, the collective and the individual.

Currently based in Glasgow, Çağlar Çil continues to explore interdisciplinary storytelling through literature, often working at the intersection of psychology, genetics, and philosophy. His work speaks to readers who are unafraid of complexity, those who find beauty not in easy answers, but in the courage to ask difficult questions.
