Riza Ramos

Riza Ramos is a US Registered Nurse with a passion for writing and poetry. Growing up in the Philippines without internet and television, she developed a love of reading at a young age. She started writing essays and poetry in high school and won many writing contests. Her calling for nursing complements her innate talent for writing. She worked as a staff nurse for more than ten years in the Island of Saipan, the main island of the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Saipan became her writing haven, and she wrote essays and poetry for the local papers whenever she had the opportunity. In Saipan, she also met author and writing coach, Walt F.J. Goodridge whom Riza refers to as her "Writer Fairy Godfather." She attended Walt's writer's workshops whenever her nursing duties permitted, and with his guidance, published three books: "The Boy Who Dreamed To Be With His Parents On Saipan," "The Germ Stopper Boy" and "Drinking Seawater." Her latest book, "I Know Tomorrow," is a decades long collection of poetry -- fulfilling a promise to herself, to share her words with the world. Riza now writes in Gainesville, Florida, with husband and kids.
