Poet Laura Bruce Watt has three published poetry collections.
She made her debut with “Honey”, this collection navigates the stages of a relationship from sweet conception to bitter end.
Then came “Best Year Yet” in which Watt recounts the year she turned twenty-five and celebrates moments of beauty in amongst heartache.
Her latest collection “This Is My Body” painfully conveys the struggle that comes from existing in a body that will inevitably fail, all whilst battling a mind overcome with persistent negative thoughts. Throughout the collection, Watt also writes candidly about her Christian faith, shattering the image of the ‘perfect church girl’. Despite portraying a woman in a state of crisis, This Is My Body concludes on a hopeful note, with the poet eventually gaining awareness that her soul is not entirely her own to keep and protect – she can gladly give her immortal soul over to God.
