Birgit Nieschalk

Birgit Nieschalk is a leadership coach, trainer, workshop designer and facilitator, and a guest lecturer at the University of Southampton. Her work centers on helping teams take real ownership, navigate complexity together, and build lasting change in company culture.

She coaches leaders to guide their teams with ease, facilitates workshops on strategic topics, helps organizations embed Liberating Structures into the way they work, and serves as a sparring partner through times of change. It all comes down to one goal: making genuine collaboration happen – with both lightness and depth.

Her approach is grounded in over 19 years of professional and leadership experience in retail and tech, where she led innovation, project and partnership management. Her career has taken her across Germany and abroad to Poole (UK), Warsaw (Poland) and Dubai (UAE), before drawing her back to her beloved hometown of Cologne.

Birgit is widely recognized as a pioneer of Liberating Structures in Germany and an early champion of virtual workshops and events. As an active member of the international Liberating Structures community, she works alongside experienced practitioners worldwide to advance and spread the practice. She co-founded and organizes the Liberating Structures User Group in Cologne, and hosts both the annual unconference Liberating Structures Connect and the digital learning community Liberating Lounge.
