Mary Edwards-Porter

Hello! I am a writer, speaker and nature nut! I grew up watching "Doctor Who", "Star Trek" and David Attenborough and have stayed loyal to sci fi and nature throughout my life! I was a science teacher in Suffolk, UK, for 11 years then worked for the RSPB until I got a job with the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, where I stayed for 30 years. My job included education, public relations, events and "Wildlife Watch", the junior club of the Trust. My main hobby is wildlife gardening, but I also dabble in pottery when I get the chance. I have written loads of non fiction articles, for both adults and children. I was on the editorial team for the national "Wildlife Watch" magazine for about 15 years, and also edited a Wildlife Trusts in-house publication called "Link", sharing ideas for environmental education activities. I had always wanted to write a fiction book for children. I have far more children's fiction books on my shelves than adults' so I guess I've never really grown up! When I heard about Doggerland, and it's fascinating past, the "Dogger Dragon Chronicles", all three books of them, just popped into my head. The first "Dragons of Doggerland" was published in August 2022, I hope "Escape from Doggerland" and the "Dragons of Bulla's brook" won't be too far behind.
