Evaleen Whelton

Evaleen made the wonderful discovery she was Autistic in 2014. "Wonderful discovery"? you might think, but you see Evaleen is extremely proud of her Autisticity and works hard to promote this pride in young people in the Autistic Community. She is passionate about changing the negative and inaccurate ideas about Autistic people. Growing up Evaleen would have loved some guidance and someone to explain to her the various ways that people use to communicate and so she has written books to share her insights with Autistic kids and teens as well as parents, teachers and other professionals.

Evaleen has worked with kids and teens for over 20 years. She used to be a speech and drama teacher until her passion and interest in changing things for Autistic people brought her in another direction. Evaleen loves to create helpful resources for Autistic kids and teens and also trains schools and other organisations in all things autism.

Evaleen believes that being Autistic is just another way that human beings exist and that this difference, like many human differences has been unnecessarily magnified.
