Fritznel D. Octave

Fritznel D. Octave is an award-winning journalist and author with more than 25 years of experience in Haiti and abroad. A thought leader deeply rooted in Haiti’s culture and history, he currently serves as the Haiti Editor for The Haitian Times and podcast executive editor and co-host at 1804 Renaissance Media, where he has dedicated his career to impactful storytelling that amplifies marginalized voices.

Throughout his distinguished career, Fritznel has covered a broad range of issues — from social justice and politics to the environment, healthcare, and economics. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to human-centered journalism and to bridging local realities with global perspectives.

He began his career in community radio before advancing to national outlets such as Jounal Libète, Agence Haïtienne de Presse (AHP), and international organizations including Inter Press Service (IPS) and Syfia International. After relocating to the United States in the mid-2000s, Octave maintained an unwavering focus on Haiti, continuing to write, report, and speak passionately about the country’s social and political challenges.

Beyond journalism, Fritznel is active in business development and personal growth leadership. His expertise in the insurance industry reflects his entrepreneurial mindset and dedication to results-driven coaching, transformative leadership, and community empowerment.

Octave earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication from the State University of Haiti (UEH) and completed professional journalism studies at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and the University of Oxford, England. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

His most recent book, Haiti Between Pestilence and Hope (2022), offers readers a deeper understanding of the Haitian people and the nation’s enduring struggle for renewal. Through his writing, public speaking, and mentorship, Octave continues to inspire Haitians to draw strength from the ideals of the Haitian Revolution and to build a more just, prosperous, and united nation.
