For children’s book author Brittney Spencer, writing poems was an outlet to express how she felt during times of hardship and joy. When her daughter was born, she was inspired to pen her rhymes into a story that celebrates the wonder of a new child and their bond with a parent.
Brittney believes that a great book is one where the child can see themselves in the story and relate to the character. She hopes her young readers come away from her book remembering that small moments should not be taken for granted and that this stays with them long after the book is closed.
When she isn’t writing poignant children’s stories, Brittney enjoys drinking loose-leaf tea and watching television, especially crime-related shows. She trains Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and loves attending festivals and exploring nearby cities on the weekends with her family living in South Carolina. Brittney’s daughter, for whom the book was written, is everything Brittney aspires to be and her presence inspired her to chase a dream—her debut book, How Lucky Am I?.
