Arthur L. Hunsaker

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I spent my favorite five years of childhood living in the country north of Petaluma. It was there my hunger to write began.

My father moved us to southern Oregon when I was fifteen. There I persisted through loneliness and a bit of culture shock, enjoyed some memorable school basketball experiences, then served a two-year church mission. Focusing on the struggles and dreams of others was a major turning point in my life.

I went to college, got married, started a family, and got a job. The old hunger to write soon returned, but sustaining a writing project to completion was not compatible with my chosen obligations to family, church, and employer. In the meantime, my wife's suggestion that I research my family’s frontier history held the key to discovering what I love to write, and why.

Since retiring in 2020 after a 32-year career as a policy analyst for the Utah Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, I have drawn from family stories to publish three novels. The first, "A Far Reckoning," is a historical fiction murder mystery set in 1861. Next come the first two books in a series, "For Others to Reap" and "Last Thunder." Set in the late 19th century, they weave strong mystery and adventure elements into compelling tales reflecting the changing frontier. All three are available on Amazon in softbound and Kindle formats.

I am hard at work on the next book.
