I came to national attention in June 2020. I was sacked from the charity I founded for critiquing Black Lives Matter. I then mounted a successful fightback that resulted in my reinstatement. The board of trustees resigned due to public pressure and the threat of legal action.
I spent two decades preventing crime and antisocial behaviour in the toughest neighbourhoods. I promote early intervention and personal responsibility. I am also a social campaigner on the issues that keep people in poverty and feeling victimised. I have experience in many fields, such as youth crime, rough sleeping, knife crime and community engagement. I was awarded an MBE for this work.
My motto: It is quicker, easier and cheaper to turn around the life of a 12-year old. Rather than wait until they are 19 years old and entrenched in dysfunctionality.
I was raised on a council estate in South Manchester by a single mum and lived with a sister and grandparents. Many of my childhood friends made poor choices and ended up in jail.
I have a huge interest in independent travel fostered by the stories told to me as a child by my Grandad - late at night in our shared bedroom. We explored his exploits with the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and during WWII.
I have travelled around the world several times - explored India, South East Asia, Japan, China, Nepal, Canada, USA, Mexico, Australia, North Africa, South Africa, and nearly all of Europe. It was independent travel that moulded me into the man I am today.
More recently, I stood for Mayor of Greater Manchester in 20212 and 2024. I finished third place in 2024.
