Susan Michelle

I have been teaching and supporting students with additional support needs for over 15 years. I enjoy sharing in students accomplishments and celebrating their successes. My passion for teaching stems from my joy in providing individuals with opportunities to shine and experience new things.

One area that I believe is foundational for learning is being grounded in social and emotional learning. Each person experiences the world in their own unique way. Validating a persons response to stimulation or experiences is key to providing a safe space for learning and growth. I know first hand how difficult communicating can be, especially when communicating about experiences that trigger a negative response. My first two books: "I AM a Chameleon" and "I Feel in Colours" explore the topic of talking about our emotions.

On the flip side, I also enjoy being silly and many of my journals and my Sam Slug series demonstrate my odd sense of humour. Life is to be enjoyed! I have published two books in the Sam Slug series. More to come summer 2024!
