Cate Maskell

Cate Maskell is a freelance artist and illustrator based out of suburban Baltimore, MD. Cate fell in love with children’s books, and the artwork within, at a young age. That love grew exponentially once she started a family of her own. To her, illustrations are an opportunity to strengthen the connection between the reader and the words on the page. When it comes to the difficult life issues, Cate sees her role as an illustrator as a way to support parents and caregivers in helping children to cope. Her goal is to create artwork that encourages quality time spent with each page, deepening the relationship between the message and the reader. Before settling in to her dream job, she took a small detour, earning a couple psychology degrees, starting a career, starting a family, and through it all found her way back to art. Most days you’ll find her in her home office/ studio, caring for her three young children, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
