Kimberli Buckley is a Senior Community Library Manager at Contra Costa County Library and a University Lecturer at San Jose State University’s School of Information. Her educational background includes a Master’s in Library Science from San Jose State University and a Master’s in Consciousness Studies from John F. Kennedy University. She has over fifteen years of experience in the library field with an emphasis in program planning and working with young adults. One of her most successful program projects has been teaching a year-long series of adulting workshops for high school and college students at her library. She has been a writer for the Programming Librarian and the YALSA Hub and maintains her own blog Hey There Mrs. Librarian Lady. Her book Teaching Life Skills in the Library was released for publication in July 2022 with ALA Editions and focuses on how important life skills are for young adults in today’s world. She also developed a 4-week online course in 2020 called Growing Up Is Hard. This course teaches library staff how to plan their own life skills programs. Kimberli loves to be creative and she continues to tap into her inner unicorn to bring all of her ideas to life.
