William Hegmann

William Hegmann wrote his life story so other people, especially youth, would be inspired to change their lives for the better. Born and raised in Galveston, he dropped out of school and joined the crime-infested streets of the city. As a troubled teenager roaming dangerous neighborhoods, he was well on his way to becoming a tragic statistic like many people he knew. Some died violently, several from drug overdoses, and others landed in prison.

William was not supposed to make it to twenty.

But a close call with death gave him reason to change his life. Staring up at the ceiling from a hospital bed, he decided to change his path.

He recognized that education was his pathway off the streets. He entered Job Corps, earned his GED, then went to Texas State Technical College to learn web software and design and computer programming, skills that would be valuable in his later businesses. Using his education and desire for real achievement, he talked his way into a marketing position for Dell Computers.

For nine consecutive quarters, he was the Representative of the Quarter. He was on his way.

With growing confidence that hard work, the willingness to learn, and the right mentors around him, he could be a successful entrepreneur. William started several businesses while still employed at Dell. He eventually left Dell and developed his most successful business, The Social Agent. This book, “The Struggle to Success,” takes readers in William’s footsteps from the streets of Galveston to the luxuries and freedom of financial success with the lessons everyone needs to learn to achieve more in life.
