Kenton Nelson, born and raised in Los Angeles, has been a prominent figure in the art world for over 35 years. Educated at Long Beach State University and Otis Parsons Art Institute, Nelson's work is influenced by his great uncle, Mexican muralist Roberto Montenegro.
His paintings, rooted in American Scene painting and Regionalism, aim to idealize the ordinary. Nelson's art has graced the cover of The New Yorker seven times and has been exhibited worldwide, from Los Angeles to New York, London, Zurich and Vienna. His work can be found in the permanent public collections of Palm Springs Art Museum, Crocker Art Museum, and the Albertina Museum, in addition to hundreds of private collections around the globe. His paintings have even been featured in several films and TV shows, most notably in Something’s Gotta Give.
