Born after WWII, at my Bavarian grandparent’s rustic home: wood- and coal range, well-water, straw mattresses, chickens, pigs and two cows.

Elementary school: several grades jammed into one class room, slate tablets. Graduated to pencils, ink wells, exercise books. At ten a hearing-impaired diagnosis.

Middle school, an all-girls Catholic institution, led toward business-oriented courses. The industrial growth of the fifties demanded skills with electric office equipment.

Great salary package from a big global company brought me to Munich. Typed contracts and invoices for the first fully automatic brewery. The nightlife was fantastic. Danced at a Glen Miller Band concert, Elvis and the Beatles.

In Canada I worked as a nanny, a maid and in a chocolate factory while I learned to speech-read in English. Then I took accounting and computer courses, was hired by a big accounting firm.

Health issues cut short my quarter-century career in financial services. While I recovered from my second back operation, I caught the writing bug. My oldest encouraged me to sign up with Friesen Press.

In spite of a my hearing loss, vision issues and bent finger, I published ‘The Deviant Son’.
