I have been teaching adults how to read and write, for over 20 years, initially as a volunteer and then in a range of community organisations and further education colleges. I started developing resources for Adult Literacy students with very low literacy levels after encountering a student who could not read or write. I found there was a shortage of suitable resources for adults. Whilst there are many paper and digital resources for children there are very few for adults and trying to use children’s resources is a very demotivating experience for teaching adults.

I work with the educational, digital media, and software experts in our amazing team to take my ideas and designs and adapt them to create the integrated set of paper and digital resources that make up the Citizen Literacy programme.
