Artistry V

From time to time, along our life’s journey, we occasion upon a fellow sojourner with whom we make a connection, almost immediately. It tends to be the humility that connects us; seeing in the other a genuine desire to learn, grow, love, and inspire.

Born of modest means and the younger of two in Durham, North Carolina, Thomas Vanhook, Jr. is such a sojourner. For over six decades, Thomas has inspired others through song and music. Among his many gifts, he has most notably applied his talent in the church as a minister of music, pianist, composer, teacher, and workshop leader and many more titles. The most important title to him is that of Inspirationalist. Thomas has dedicated his life’s work to achieving a high level of artistry in whatever he does. It is this authentic artistry that touches the lives of so many.

For Thomas, this book represents a bold step into a new territory of vulnerability and uncertainty. After many years of

learning and growing, he recognized a truth; that in his willingness to bare a little of himself – his thoughts, his fears, his triumphs, failures, insight and at times, even his humor – he helps others on their journey to connect through him with their power to learn, grow, love, and inspire.

Thomas still resides in Durham, North Carolina and cherishes his family, friends and adopted families who cherish him right back. He looks forward to others sharing a few of the pebbles along his journey.
