Jay Chesters is an award-winning author writing unusual contemporary fiction. His books The Cat Who Hated Bird and Year of the Bear weave together folklore and speculative fiction with fantasy, magical realism, science fiction, horror, and social commentary. Mostly intentionally.
After 20 years of living in a dozen different cities across three continents, Jay now lives on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Perth, Western Australia) with his wife and a boisterous cat.
When he’s not working, Jay is usually found in the wild in Perth’s bookshops, cafes, and coffee shops, writing and making the place look untidy. When he’s not writing, Jay generally frets about how he should be writing.
Jay also has other works appearing in collections from Night Parrot Press and online in various places.
