Megan Wheless

Megan J. Wheless is a writer known for her rich descriptions and keen observations of emotional nuances and connections. Raised in Central Illinois, she infuses her writing with a blend of Midwestern sensibility, magical realism, and the landscapes of the prairie and woodlands of her youth.

Megan spent nearly twenty years as a high school English teacher in Southwestern Illinois and credits her experiences with her students and their shared discussions of and insights into a wide range of literature and the craft of writing as her biggest influences as a writer.

In 2016, Megan took a sabbatical and moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina where she had many adventures, the best one of which was meeting and then marrying her husband, an inventive formulations chemist with quick wit and boy-next-door charm.

Megan and her husband are happy to be living in the Big Prairie in Northern Illinois with their two adorable pets, Bootsie and Lucy. When she's not writing, she can be found gardening at home and garnering inspiration from the flora and fauna that surround her.
