I have been in Television production for over 38 years. First in Pennsylvania and then in California. My interest in the Civil War started at an early age. When I was ten, my family took me to Gettysburg, just a couple of hours from our home. From that point on I was hooked. Every year I would ask to go to Gettysburg and eventually became totally engrossed in the history of the battle. Through the years I have visited Antietam, Fredericksburg, Petersburg, New Market, Monocacy and most recently with my wife, Vicksburg. In 2013 I took the Gettysburg Guide test and did fairly well though did not score enough to move on to the next level. That same year I started to investigate the Civil war veterans of Northern California where I had been living since 1996. I knew there were many Union vets who had moved to California after the war but was surprised to find Confederate veterans had also moved as far west. Once I started my research I soon became addicted to to the detective work involved. I eventually had over 600 profiles written. I concentrated mostly on their war service. Once I found a Publisher I picked 101 profiles that I thought would really be of interest. I hope you find the book interesting reading as much as I did writing and researching it.
