If we were to rewind to 8 am on Monday February 17th 2003 you would find me on the top floor of Barclays' head office in Liverpool, gazing out at the rain crashing down onto the large glass windows. In my hand was an envelope and inside it a resignation letter—a decision to depart from a career of fourteen years, giving up a secure pension, salary and bonus. Initially, joining in the late '80s and early '90s, the bank prioritised customer needs, but as time passed, the pressure to sell financial products intensified. I weathered infamous mis-selling controversies, including PPI, pensions and endowment episodes. By 2003 I had reached my limit. That day marked the beginning of my journey to establish my own financial planning business, driven by a desire to truly make a positive impact in people's lives. Over two decades later, my team and I take pride in the meaningful difference we make. My book reflects an entire three decades of insights and experiences, offering practical tips accessible to all. I hope these insights inspire positive changes in your life.
