Keith Rawlings

Keith was educated at Kent College, Canterbury.

On leaving school he had intended to train as a Dental Surgeon but, for varying reasons, took up a position, intended to be temporary, with the Royal Insurance Company.

After ten years with the Royal, in 1969, he left to start Burlington Insurance Services Ltd with a staff of one and, on his final retirement, he was employing a staff of 100. During his turbulent thirty odd years running Burlington’s, Keith sold the Company several times to Public Companies but always found himself in a position of being able to repurchase his Company some years later (at rather more favourable terms than those existing at the point of sale).

In 1963 keith married a lovely nurse by the name of Susan Johnson and, at the time of writing, they will be celebrating their 59th wedding later this year. Keith and Sue have been blessed with a wonderful son and daughter plus two delightful granddaughters. Their family will be complete if, and when, they are also blessed with great grandchildren.

Sport has played an important part in Keith’s life and he relishes the fact that he has retained so many close friendships from Rugby, Tennis, Skiing and Golf. As an octogenarian, Keith still looks forward to three games of golf a week.

As a couple, travel has been a dominant part of their free time and they have enjoyed owning holiday homes in The Isle of Wight, Antigua and Portugal. Since retirement they have dedicated themselves to seeing as many of the major World sites and take cruises (often with the full family) two or three times a year.

This is Keith’s third full length novel, the predecessors being “Knock for Knock” and “The Brothers Grymne” with a novella entitled “Golden Balls”.

Keith and Sue formed a Charitable Trust in 1980 and all proceeds of his publications have been paid to this Trust. In 2020 Keith was awarded a BEM for services to Charity.
