Mirio Cosottini graduated from Florence’s Academy of Music in 1992. In 1999, he received a degree in Philosophy at the University of Florence. He is one of the founding members of Timet, a 10-year collaboration that led to his contribution as a performer and composer. From that time on he has dwelled further into composition, musical analysis and improvisation. He has published many articles on Improvisation from a philosophical, didactical and musicological point of view. In 2005 he founded with Alessio Pisani the GRIM (Musical Improvisation Research Group). Since 2005 to 2010 taught improvisation at the Conservatory of Padova, Italy.
In 2018 he’s got a PhD at the University of Trieste with a research project in the Aesthetics of Music (The phenomenology of musical improvisation. The performer point of view).
