Dr Sandra L. Fielden is an occupational psychologist, who worked at the University of Manchester for 20 years as a senior lecturer, where she was co-director of the Centre for Equality and Diversity. The Centre undertook research into various forms of discrimination, and how to overcome it. Sandra was instrumental in raising over £1 million for the Centre, which looked at how attitudes toward difference affects behaviour, including gender, race, disability, sexuality and culture. She has written/edited 11 books, 17 book chapters, and 35 academic papers: presenting her work at conferences around the globe and editing the renown journal 'Gender in Management: An International Journal', for which she was presented with 3 awards including an outstanding service award.

Equality and Diversity is built upon respect for others, and her first children's book 'What is the Magic Word'. is based around the fundemental manners of 'please' and 'thank you'. It explains why children should use such words and what is in it for them, whilst developing their respect for others. All of the characters in the book are based on real cats owned by Sandra, and her husband Stuart, over the past 43 years, or by friends and neighbours. Sandra has been a volunteer with Cats Protection since 21014 and is currently working on an volunteers awards scheme designed to say thank you to all volunteers.
