Dr. Jonathan L. Wharton is associate professor of political science and urban affairs. His teaching and publications center on state and local government, public policy, economic development as well as identity and coalition building politics. He served on the New England Political Science Association board of directors (2018-2022) and New Haven City Plan commission (2016-2020).
Prior to academia, Wharton worked as a congressional aide for the US House of Representatives and a research analyst in the New Jersey state legislature's Office of Legislative Services as well as government affairs researcher for several Washington nonprofit organizations.
