Wendy Eastman

By birth, an Indiana Hoosier but a Southern girl at heart, Wendy Eastman attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, earning a bachelor’s degree in theatre production. After graduation, a desire to travel prompted her to do something unexpected. She joined the Army. She gained a global perspective on life as a photographer stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. This career allowed her to travel through Europe during an exciting time. She even chipped off a piece of the fallen Berlin wall in 1989.

Her love of writing started in high school, keeping her writing a secret. As she grew older, she hid a journal which helped her through some trying times. Elements of her own life are often woven into the characters she creates.

Wendy received the Dr. Tom Maddox Award, the highest honor for service to students in the Owensboro Kentucky Public Schools, for her work as a Global Classroom Instructor. The program connected kindergarten through fourth grade in collaborative classrooms from nine countries, including Australia, Botswana, India, Ireland, and Singapore. The State Department chose six educators from the United States to attend an international workshop at Columbia University in New York. Wendy became one of the six chosen.

Wendy is a proud mother of adult children. Her son is an Afghanistan veteran living in Wisconsin with his wife; they enjoy camping and riding motorcycles with other veterans. Her daughter is a former Georgia State Champion in rhythmic gymnasts and is an award-winning choreographer. She lives in Kentucky with her husband and three sons.

Wendy is also an award-winning artist. Now retired, she is a world traveler who enjoyspainting, music and NFL football. Her home is the town of Berea, Kentucky, an arts-oriented community.
