Duane Collins

Duane Collins holds a Master's Degree of Professional Studies in Criminal Justice from Fort Hays State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Peru State College. He has worked in the criminal justice field since 1996, serving as a certified Police Officer from 2005 until his retirement after just over 20 years with a department in the Omaha, Nebraska area. Today, he teaches Criminal Justice at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska.

Outside of his professional life, Duane is a devoted family man, married for over 24 years, and a proud grandfather to two grandchildren. He shares his home with two Scottish Terriers, Edward and Georgie (and fondly remembers Katie, recently lost). In his free time, he enjoys woodworking, fishing, and reading widely—from early American history and World War II to science fiction, fantasy, and cryptozoology. He also enjoys tinkering with and using older computers, arcades (and replicas), and older gaming systems.

A lifelong advocate for children and animals alike, Duane writes a variety of topics, including stories about his favorite topics and coloring, activity, and picture books designed to bring joy to young readers. He is a passionate supporter of Paws to Love, a dog rescue in South Dakota dedicated to saving dogs from puppy mills and other difficult situations. His Scottish Terrier themed coloring and activity books are dedicated to the organization, with proceeds going directly to support its mission.
