Piece We Need: Inner Strength, to face serious challenges
This is the first book Mr. Metzger has written. Therefore, even though he is writing this bio in third person and pretending to be removed and objective, he has few accolades to add.
Over the last few decades, Mr. Metzger examined himself to identify what qualities or strengths, if any, would be valuable to others and could be shared. His life has centered around the injury described in this book. Therefore, inner strength and facing challenge is the one skill he has direct and unique experience with. Perhaps I can share a little of what I’ve learned, he wondered, and put together this book with the help of an artist friend, Jud Sharp.
Not surprisingly, this self-examination occurred a few years after Mr. Metzger retired from the career that had kept him busy seven days a week. He was self-employed, building 3D digital models of entertainment productions: theme parks, nightclubs, and stage sets. Yes, he found this to be as creative and interesting as it sounds. He created an award-winning series of short animations using the 3D modeling software. This series became the basis for this book. In his earlier years, he was a puppeteer, and still calls himself an unabashed puppetophile.
The insights that this book expresses are discoveries Mr. Metzger made with help from Prem Rawat. He treasures the frequent reminders that Mr. Rawat offers, pointing to the value of inner experience.
