I'm an Army Brat; my dad was in the Army at the end of World War II and met my German mother there when he parachuted into Germany. I grew up in Germany for a few years and then our family came to Colorado Springs in 1963 when my dad retired from the Army. In my book," Mental Hell" I tell the story of growing up with my mentally ill mother and mentally ill brother, both ended up in a mental institution. Back in those days no one talked about mental illness; so I couldn't reveal to anyone what was happening in my home. School became my safe place, so I went to college and graduated from University of Colorado in Colorado Springs with a BA at the age of 40 as a single parent. I was also a Medic in the Army. I then worked for a medical insurance company and then the District Attorney's office using my Paralegal Certificate. I recently went back to college in September of 2021 at the same University I graduated from. I was on the Channel 5 news as the 69 year old who was going back to school. I hope to continue my education and write another book. Nancy L. Thomason
