Al Lovejoy

Al Lovejoy is the South African author of Acid Alex and DEEP - works that fuse stark honesty with a rare, unsettling beauty. His memoir Acid Alex (an Alan Paton Award nominee) traces an orphan's life of violence, rebellion, and survival. While DEEP expands his literary voice into a new genre-busting terrain.

Beyond storytelling, Lovejoy has committed every royalty from his books to the Lovejoy Children’s Trust. A bold initiative to build a self-sustaining, legally secure community for orphaned and unwanted children. This to be jointly owned and sustained by themselves in perpetuity.

Unlike traditional charities, the Trust will NOT accept donations of any kind. Funding comes solely through the exchange of Lovejoy’s literature. Each purchase, special edition, golden signature edition or licensing agreement - is considered to be a tangible exchange of Value and directly builds the Trust’s capital. Such exchanges of Value are considered very welcome.

The long-term vision is for upward of 100,000 children to not only find themselves with homes, education, and empowerment, but also the legal and financial means to govern their unique community themselves securely - carrying Lovejoy’s mission forward.

In his words: "investing in humanity now, for a future that none of us will ever know, or experience - comes with rewards of an entirely different nature."
